What's your question? Get her a present. If she is coming before Christmas, do some last minutes shopping once you get to know her.

Depending on where you live - you could get her something typical of your area - something that symbolises your city or town - if its famous for certain things give her something based on that Say for instance your town is famous for nice pottery - you could give something pottery that she might find either useful or will be able to keep as a nice keepsake of her time in your family Other than that - do you have a typical thing that is given to someone in your family at a similar age to what she is - perhaps its a nice piece of jewellery that is given to mark the end of senior school or something like that You could always give her a voucher for clothing to help her fit in with the rest of the family and what you wear - then she could choose something typical of what other family members wear so that she feels like part of the family while living with you - if you give a voucher - choose a store which has nice clothes for teens - perhaps a shop that you would think cool to shop at Have a great time with your student - I have hosted too and its a great cultural experience

Maybe you should try to get her a basket of things that are local to the area you live in. For instance, I live in Canada, where maple syrup is a big deal. Also, you could make up a gift bag of stuff that you and your friends think are cool, like the type of fashion jewellery you guys wear, hair products you use, treats you like. Make up a cd of music that is popular in your group of friends. It would make a nice welcome for her.

I would strongly suggest something very american and traditional to show her how christmas is in america! Buy a simple bracelet, a perfume set, or some jewelry or something like that. If you plan on spending around $100 on it, then consider these great gifts: $50 1. A travel kit 2. Some Ugg boots 3. A scarf set 4. A charm bracelet 5. A leather journal 6. Perfume 7. A cute wallet 8. Some sweater booties like those from Victoria's secret for only $35 $60-$100 1. Ugg boots 2. A cashmere sweater from AE $90 (I saw this in Teen Vogue December/January issue, see ae.com for details 3. D&G Journal $70 4. A clip on iPod shuffle $50 and iTunes gift card 5. A cute Hello Kitty wallet $69, Tokidoki for Hello Kitty metroparkusa.com All of these gifts have that american feel
