Most fun country for an American foreign exchange student?
Keep in mind: I'm underage (16), but outgoing, mature, speak English, have taken two years of French, willing to learn a new language, and am globally informed (not ignorant to what's going on). I'm looking to have fun as well as experience a great culture. So, in your opinion, whether you live there or have just visited the place. Which country (of the following) would you suggest for me, a teenage American foreign exchange student, to have the best time in: France Ireland Australia Brazil South Africa

Hi there I am from Brazil and I have student visa for more than 5 years.I've heard that I can apply by Humans rights to get a permanent visa is this true? No, in British law you would need to be resident continously for 10 years on a student visa before you become eligible for Indefinite Leave to Remain - that is under current legislation, it could change in the future. Because a student visa is designed to be temporary & as part of the terms you must leave the country once it expires the normal five year period for those working in the UK doesn't apply.

You are partly correct. You can apply for ILR after 10 years of *continuous* stay. It relates to some kind of human rights law. The 5 year time limit is for people on employment visas. The only exception would be if you had been legally given permission to study in the UK for ten consecutive years, you could then apply for ILR. This concession is very rare and is usually given for children who otherwise would lose the right to remain in the UK on reaching 18. It is unlikely UKBA would continue allowing an adult to study for that length of time in the UK these days.

I have an Indian passport and I wish to travel to Brazil via Paris on Air France. I do not have a schengen visa but I do have a Brazil visa and I am on a student visa in the UK. Do I need a transit visa for Paris even though I'm staying there for less than 2 hours and I have an on-going flight?

It depends on the area that he will visit, there are areas that it is necessary to take the vaccine against the malaria, usually all are vaccinated co to triple viral, Measles, German measles and Mumps.

If you are going to the Jungle and you get stopped at a checkpoint, they will ask to see your international vaccination record which is the yellow pamphlet that you keep in your passport. If you don't have proof of a yellow fever shot, they will give you one whether or not you want it and they will use a rather large syringe to do so. The other major danger is Dengue fever in the cities but there is no vaccine for that. As long as you don't sleep with the windows open, you should be relatively safe from Dengue fever.

Yellow Fever is recommended, but not required in cities like Rio and Sao Paolo. WHO also recommends yellow fever immunisation for travel outside the urban areas of Brazil where yellow fever risk exists. If you are going into the Amazon areas you should be vaccinated for yellow fever and ensure you take your vaccination card with you or the authorities will give you another one! There are no exceptions unless by a doctor's letter (e.g. if vaccine would harm you). It is also recommended to take malaria tablets when you are in the jungle areas.

Not required but recomended. You can take Yellow fever/ Malaria vaccine at any airport when you land at the POSTO DE SAUDE and it's free! In the US it costs about $180.00. There are several postos de saude in Brazil, you go to any posto de saude of whaterver town you're at ant take it there for free.

I have met a lot of Brazilian people. Most of them are really chill, kind of like Hawaiians. And yes its a big beach culture. Music is really big in Brazil. You can find out about Brazilian music anywhere on the internet. Anyway, I don't think you have anything to worry about, brazilians are cool. Throw them a joint, a soccer ball and a surf board and they are happy.

Where could an American college student move to in Brazil?
I am a 24 year old male that is thinking about moving to Brazil for a few months just because I can do it. I want to live along the coast during their summer months.. need a good area that I could live safe and cheap for a few months. Any ideas? Or suggest other places to move to with beautiful coastal areas to live at for cheap. I have lived in England, France, China, Sierra Leone, Canada, and in 8 different states so I am an experienced traveler..

Srie Machado you're really not Brazilian with that last name? Your thinking moving to Brazil for a few month just because you can do it, What is that? Well depending on what month you're planing to go. Northeast Brazil have the most beautifully beaches and summer all year long. Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, and south Brazil till the end of october is cold. Are you American? Brazil for Americans is really cheap but don't think you can be there like a tourist walking every were hanging camcorders... because they really assault you for nothing. try to be one of them in the street... and you are going to be safe.
