I went to brazil + married my girlfriend last year so she could stay in the UK, how hard is it to get divorced?
I would not normally have chose to marry her but we were in love at the time and her student visa had expired, therefore i went to brazil and married her over there so she could stay with me in the UK, none of my friends or family even know we are married, we have now split up and I want to know how easy it will be to get a divorce, how much it will cost etc.

why would you do it..if you want to get a divorce

Get a lawyer..and apply for divorce.

Go to the Brazilian embassy and talk to the legal Consul about getting a annulment or divorce from a court over there, try to talk to a lawyer there in the UK too while your at it, they can best give you the answer your seeking. Sounds like she is using her marriage as a way to stay in the country at your expense.

Well it depends. I heard it cost around $2,000 , But then again I live in Pennsylvania. It won`t be too hard if you BOTH want to get divorced but if she still loves you and wants to be with you its gonna be hard for her to get the divorce papers, sign them, and split half the money. That's love for ya!

Make sure you get legal advice in advance. You could otherwise be seen as providing her with an illegal means to stay in the UK. (marrying for a residency permit)
