I'm studying in UFMG. What do you mean? Do you wanna how much English a Brazilian student must need to enter? In the case of UFMG you don't need to know English, you can know any foreign language among one of those three: English, Spanish or French. Here's the English test of the last concourse to enter in UFMG. If you make less than 5 correct answers you're eliminated. http://www.ufmg.br/copeve/download/pdf/2007/1etapa/1inglescad1.pdf English is tough in all Brazilian schools. That's how people try to reach the required level. The ones with money also try specialised payed courses.

If you live in Brazil and want to help an AFS exchange student? I am an exchange student with AFS from California into Brazil. I love your country but I was put into the state of Mato Grosso de Sul, which is land locked, and I live in a very small city. I want to move to a big city on the coast, such as Sao Paulo, Forteleza, Salvador etc. and I can only do so If I have a family there that wants to take me in. I understand how strange this is but I am desperate to get to the ocean. I am just asking. If you think you would be intrested in hosting an exchange student for a while I will supply you with the information needed and be forever thankful that you gave me this oppurtunity to live near the coast. Obrigado. Studying Abroad - 4 Answers Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : 1 : Run, host families! Another spoiled exchange student who's more concerned with the beach than the exchange. So spoiled and desperate that the kid is going outside of the org and trying to get his way by being sneaky. 2 : I've hosted for 12 years. This is NOT a student I would want to take into my home! To you ... Imagine how your host family must feel. They've opened up their home and you are throwing that away because you want a BEACH???? This isn't strange, this is selfish. Apparently AFS has already (and rightly) turned down your desire to move. I can only hope that your current family does not know about this and that you are not making their life miserable. Many, many, many exchange students come from big cities, places with beaches, places with mountains and end up in small "landlocked" towns in the Midwest. Guess what? While they may be initially upset about it, they make the best of it and have a wonderful year. You need to get over yourself and get on with your exchange year. There is NO perfect family, no perfect school, no perfect town .. it's up to YOU to make the best of what you have. Now, get over this nonsense! 3 : São Paulo is not in the coast, actually. It's about 80km away from the ocean. Anyway, you should have made this question in the Brazilian yahoo! answers (see flags below). 4 : hey Sean sup man ? first how many years u have ? how many months u will stay ? i am brazilian from São Paulo sorry for my english =-p lets talk about this in MSN it adds me plz f_c_m_p@hotmail.com :D . Sao paulo is near the cost +- 2 hours to go to my beach house on baleia we go in saying them.

Well, I am from Brazil and live in the USA. The Brazilian everyday food is rice and beans and beef meat, chicken (we use every piece of it...even the heart, the liver...I didn't eat that when i lived there), pork, but something that is not common: rabbit, lamb, buffalo. Everyone eats fish: all kinds. People mostly like codfish (not my favorite) and white fish. Prices? they all can vary. However it is much cheaper than in the USA! There are McDonald's, Burger King , TGIF, Subway, most American eating places are there too...and very cheap. The expensive restaurants are the French ones. Still the Italian or German ones are not expensive. We also have a very special one that you can eat all kinds of meats, plus vegetables, pasta for a special price and you can eat as much as you want, plus the desserts. The only thing that is not included on the price is the drinks. And we have the same related to pizzas. All kinds (even sweet pizzas, such as fruit/chocolate pizzas) for a certain price. I haven't lived in Brazil for 20 years now, but here in America we have the meat restaurant and it is U$55 per person, I'd say it is $30 in Brazil because it is always half of the price here! Good luck for you and enjoy Brazil because it is usually very hot there. Temperature , even in the winter, is about 35C (around 90 or 95F)! Have fun.

How would schooling work for a foreign exchange student to Brazil?

How would schooling work for a foreign exchange student to Brazil?
I am thinking about being a foreign exchange student to Brazil. Their seasons are the opposite of ours. Their school year begins in the middle of our school year (February) and ends in November. How does that work for us? Do we just leave in the middle of the year?

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!! Your going to go to BRazillll???? That's awesommmeee!!!! I am toooooo!!!!!!! LOL!!! What program? When are you going??? LOL But anyway, this is your question.... Sooooooooooooooo: There are two ways you can do it. If you leave summer departure in July (what I am doing) than you just start in the middle of their year, spend the summer with your host family, and then go back to school at the end of vacation. They will either put you in the same grade as you were, or after vacation, they may move you up, so you can be with the same people. The other way, is to leave in the winter- January ish. You get there, and then you start with the rest of the school... however, then that messes up two of your school years at home..,... I suggest a summer departure. That is what most people do! Good luck!!! And if you decide to do it, pleeeeesaaaseee contact me! I never see anyone else who is going to Brazil!!! lol.. ummmm my email is on my profile!!!
