What to expect in Brazil? I just found out that I have been accepted for a scholarship and will be an exchange student in Florianopolis, Brazil for 6 months. Can someone tell me, or give me an idea of what to expect? :P What is considered impolite, what are the people like, etc... and what is the school system like? Is it comparable to Canada, at all? I am very confused.

Ask ten people and you will get 10 different countries...... Do the research yourself and choose one or two that are close.... If you are a college student that shouldn't be too hard. Cheap is relative...it's how much you want to do and spend.

add to those countries you chose ,Egypt, Saudi, Dubi , Turkey, China it is really good thing to visit other countries and see the differences between you and others good luck in your travels ...

i highly recommend traveling to europe, even though south america is definitely cheaper. it's an easier cultural adjustment and virtually everyone speaks english. i loved germany, munich is one of my favorite cities. you should check out efcollegebreak.com they have ridiculously cheap summer tours for college students--and they travel basically all around the world. the tours are also great because it's so many destinations on one tour so you don't necessarily have to pick just one country. you can also use my EF College Break Campus Manager Code, TRILI9452 and get an extra $50 off any trip...it's pretty sweet.

There was a question on the board involving "Hungary", or according to her, "Hungry". Also, one day on the board there was a question about Brazil. However, a Brazilian student corrected her and said it is annoying when people spell it with a "z" and not as "Brasil" Who is correct?

Brasil is how people who live in Brazil spell their country. People in Spain spell their country España. What is correct is depends on the language you are speaking. Spelling is an important part of Geography, but it really isn't the most important part.

If you're in an English speaking country Brazil does have a z. In Portuguese and Spanish, it's Brasil. Hungary (the country) is the correct spelling not hungry (need for food).

I'm hoping that the geography teacher was just being careless when she spelled Hungary. If not, she may not be the best person to teach it, which actually happens more often than you think. I'm an education major and while I am no genius, I do believe you should prepare before you teach in order to avoid mistakes. As for Brazil/Brasil, I don't know. I always thought it was correct to spell it with a "z", but maybe that's how Americans spell it, while the people who are native to the country spell it another way.

Are there any universities in Brazil located around or even inside of Rio de Janeiro that is English spoken??
Although the country consists of Brazilian Portuguese, I was just curious as to see if there were any schools there that taught students curriculum's in English rather than Portuguese. Possibly U.S.A schools that also had schools here or something of that nature. A family member would like to go there for college, and was just wondering if they had any schools like this. I live in brazil and have just graduated High School. I want to start going to college or university here in brazil but after I want to get an MBA in the USA, im also american so i wont be a international student. Here in brazil we have 4 year bachelors degree but there are also shorter undergraduate degrees that last 2 to 3 years, they arent bachelors degree though. To get an MBA in brazil you dont need a bachelors. What would these shorter college degrees be considered in america? Can i get a MBA without a bachelors in america? is tere a set rule for all universities/colleges? or does it depend... any where i can find this info? thanks!

No.....In order to be accepted to any MBA programm you have to have Bachelors degree ...go to any university web page and they have a lot of information for new students over there...

Absolutely need the BA first. Set rules for everything. Send for information from the school you plan to attend. It may be different from school to school.

You need to be VERY careful here. You MUST have a bachelors or the equivalent to enter ANY masters program, including business administration. Anything less than a four year degree is not considered equivalent to a bachelors. And even a degree that DOES take four years may not qualify. You need to find all this out BEFORE you spend 2-4 years of your life in school, then discover few or none of the credits transfer. The only way to do that is to talk to the Brazilian university AND the American MBA university of your choice. Depending on the nature of these shorter degrees, they would either be the equivalent of an associates degree, or nothing at all.
